Welcome to our off grid cabin building site!
So just how did our off grid cabin building project start?
Well, it all began during our Memorial Day vacation. On that weekend, we rented an AirBnB cabin and thought to ourselves, and we had such a nice time. Similarly, wouldn’t it be nice to create our own cabin in the wilderness? It could be such a nice retreat from our busy work lives, where we can enjoy solitude, nature, and each other’s company. From that weekend, our idea began. As a result, we set about bringing our off grid cabin to life.
First, finding the right location for our off grid cabin.
Second, how much space is ideal? In order to have enough room to build, grow, and develop, we decided one acre of land is what we need. For that reason, we focused on areas where one acre of land was still affordable for us.
Then, we put in our offer and waited. Shortly thereafter, great news: our offer to buy the land for our cabin site was accepted!
Ok, great. Thirdly, how will we build the right place?
And thus, this is when the real adventure begins. Do we build a cabin from scratch? Or maybe, look for a pre-fabricated home? Should we contract a local builder to create a cabin? Possibly buy a log cabin kit? Or maybe a tiny home? As you can see, we realized the plethora of options out there.
For example, here is a one great option we found to explore cabin kits: https://www.cabintek.com/
As mentioned, this company is great because they offer a lot of different options in terms of size of cabin, price points, and level of building experience (perfect for novice builder or more experienced).
In conclusion, it is important to carefully evaluate the variety of options out there to find what works best for you.
So what will we pick?
